Battle of the Bulge, 2 Officers and 3 enlisted men sent to Arlon, Belgium from Thionville, France to secure high octane gas and supplies for 3rd Army. Became mess Sergeant, Staff sergeant, eventually, feeding 88 ranking Officers above Captain plus our own men, after Commandeering Local Cafe and feeding owners and Family. 500-pound bomb dropped from German plane landed next to veteran; was in coma for 4 weeks, woke up in hospital, Liverpool, England. Landed on back, L-4, L-5 herniated discs, sciata, left unable to walk. Implosion and explosion mangled brains, nerves and physical being deemed incurable. 100% service-connected disabled veteran, 54 years of unending pain.
