Activity During WWII

Graduated U.S. Naval Academy 1939. In 1941 was Commanding Officer of Submarine Division, USS Barracuda SS-163, USS Bass SS-164 and Bonita SS-165, deployed Panama Canal with mission of protecting the canal. 1942 was sent to Navy Department, Washington, D.C. and was in charge of Submarine Training for the U.S. Navy. Served as Logistic Planner from October 1941 through March 1945. In May 1945, took Command of the USS Phoenix CL-46. Retired on June 1, 1947 at his request with the rank of Rear Admiral. Had 20 years of active service in the U.S. Navy.
