Was one of the first group of men to leave Gratiot County, Spent over 4 years training men and guarding the locks in Upper Michigan and Canada. Spent one year overseas; France and Germany as a group leader. Received Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal plus many others. Served from April 1, 1941 to December 9, 1945.
