Enlisted in the Navy, 1937. Retired in 1957. Was in the Pacific Theatre on many ships. One was hit at Okinawa by Kamikaze, but all that happened was the hit splashed the cup of coffee he was drinking all over him. Captain said to put in for a Purple Heart, he didn't.
