Served on Lake Michigan in 1943. Basic training in Miami, Florida. Aviation Cadet, 1943, pilot training at Clemson University, South Carolina. Pre-flight school in Montgomery, Alabama. Went on to Arcadia, Florida for Primary Flying School, then to Kessler Field, Biloxi Field in Mississippi which was a holding area. Volunteered for Aerial Gunnery on B-17 aircraft in Las Vegas, Nevada and Lincoln, Nebraska where he was put in crew. Ardmore, Oklahoma for training in B-17 to fly in formation, camera work and gunnery (sent through this training twice). Harlingen, Texas for B-29 gunnery school (twice). When Hiroshima occurred sent back to Lincoln, Nebraska. He did not have enough points to be discharged and became a Military Policeman for 5 months. Final processing in Laurie Field in Denver, Colorado. Discharged March 1946 from Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
