In the Army Engineers. Shipped out of Boston aboard the USS Wakefield AP-21 in 1944. Landed in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Bastogne, Belgium; Vielsalm, Belgium. Aided in the Battle of the Bulge at the lock and dam, keeping the Germans from bombing the bridge and dam, which would have flooded Belgium.
