Enlisted in September 1940. Served in the Pacific, duty on board the USS Quail. Did minesweeping in Manila Bay, Philippines. Captured on Corregidor while taking supplies to the Army in tunnels. In May of 1942 was slave labor and faced starvation. Sent to Japan on a hell ship in 1944. Liberated from a coal mine, Omini Machi, in August 1945. Discharged in November 1946.
