ENTERED SERVICE ON FEBRUARY 25, 1943, AS A POSTAL CLERK. HE SAW ACTION WITH COMPANY K, 114TH REGIMENT, 44TH INFANTRY DIVISION THROUGH NORTHERN FRANCE, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE. DUTIES INCLUDED DELIVERING PERSONAL MAIL TO FELLOW TROOPS IN THEIR FRONT LINE FOXHOLES. EARNED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH THREE BRONZE BATTLE STARS, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN GRADE FIVE ON NOVEMBER 3, 1945.
