Activity During WWII

At the age of 32, married with five children, Don Nicholson was drafted in late 1944 and inducted into the U. S. Navy. He trained at Farragut, Idaho and afterwards, remarked about the lack of water at his Naval Training Base. World War II was over in 1945 and Don was back in civilian life where he and his wife had three more children. Don was frequently heard to say to two Army sons, five Army Grandsons and an Air Force Grandson that it took a better man to get into the Navy than the Army. Don Nicholson was buried in Struble, Iowa in 1997.
