Enlisted in November 1942. He entered Camp Grant, Illinois. Attended radio school in Chicago. Then, he trained at Bowman Field, Kentucky fighter bomber base. Later, he went to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was then stationed in Hawaiian islands in the Medical Corps. Served in the Pacific Theater.
