SERVED AS A CLERK-TYPIST IN THE CHICAGO SERVICE COMMAND HEADQUARTERS AT CAMP ELLIS IN ILLINOIS. HE WAS AN ENGINEERING STUDENT AT BRADLEY UNIVERSITY IN PEORIA, ILLINOIS. SERVED AS A RIFLEMAN IN COMPANY C, 383RD INFANTRY REGIMENT, 96TH INFANTRY DIVISION. HAD COMBAT INFANTRY WITH BEACHHEAD LANDING IN LEYTE, PHILIPPINES ON OCTOBER 20, 1944 AND SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS. COMBAT INFANTRY WITH 383RD INFANTRY REGIMENT, COMPANY C THROUGH OKINAWA LANDING, APRIL 1, 1945 TO END OF WAR IN JULY 1945. AWARDS INCLUDE BRONZE STAR WITH OAK LEAF CLUSTER.
