Enlisted prior to World War II and was stationed in the Philippine Islands when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Captured at the end of the Bataan campaign and died in captivity at Cabanatuan Japanese Prisoner of War Camp after months of brutal and inhumane treatment on July 16, 1942. Buried in Manila National Cemetery, Philippine Islands. Received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Prisoner of War Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge.
