Member of the 4th Infantry Division, 8th infantry, Medical Detachment. Served from June 4, 1942 to December 1, 1945. Participated in the battles of Normandy and France under General Eisenhower. In France, landed at Utah Beach June 6, 1942. Wounded on July 29, 1942 at Notre Dame du Cenilly on the highway out of St. Lo, which is South near Mortain, France. After he was wounded, went to England and eventually made it to the hospital in Sacramento, California. Spent fourteen months recuperating.
