ENLISTED IN THE ARMY AIR CORPS AT FORT SILL AT LAWTON, OKLAHOMA IN 1941. SERVED IN THE AMERICAN THEATER, AND RECEIVED TRAINING AS A RADAR OPERATOR AT FORT SCOTT, ILLINOIS. SERVED OVERSEAS AS A FLIGHT OFFICER IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER STATIONED IN HAWAII WITH THE 6TH NIGHT FIGHTER SQUADRON. LATER STATIONED AT SAIPAN IN THE MARIANA ISLANDS AND IWO JIMA IN THE BONIN ISLANDS ARCHIPELAGO. AWARDED THE AIR MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL. CONTINUED IN U.S. AIR FORCE SERVICE AFTER THE WAR UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT WITH THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT COLONEL. ISSUED THE HONORABLE SERVICE LAPEL BUTTON.
