Activity During WWII

JOINED PATROL BOMBING SQUADRON 133 ON APRIL 4, 1943. FLEW IN PV1 VENTURA AIRCRAFT IN THE ATLANTIC AND PACIFIC THEATERS. DURING THE PACIFIC TOUR, WAS ASSIGNED TO SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CREW AS PLANE CAPTAIN/GUNNER. DURING ONE OF SQUADRON ATTACKS ON WAKE ISLAND, HIS AIRCRAFT WAS STRUCK BY ENEMY FIRE AND HE WAS WOUNDED. CONTINUED TO SERVE IN THE AIRCREW AND PARTICIPATED IN OPERATIONS AGAINST ENEMY POSITIONS IN THE GILBERT, MARSHALL, CAROLINE AND BONIN ISLANDS. AMONG HIS CITATIONS, HE WAS AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART AND THE AIR MEDAL WITH 2 STARS.
