Activity During WWII

1st Lieutenant. Served in the European Theater. Received the Distinguished Flying Cross for participating in an attack that destroyed bridges, trucks and boxcars, a Presidential Unit Citation for the exceptional number of trucks destroyed during the push on Rome, an Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters and a Mediterranean Theater Ribbon with 3 bronze stars signifying the major engagements of the invasion of Southern France, Rome and the Gothic Line. Led 31 of his 101 missions as squadron leader. Flew an 836, P-40 and a P-47 (also known as a Thunderbolt) during his WWII service.
