ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 30, 1941. SERVED TWO SEPARATE TOURS IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. PARTICIPATED IN THE CAPTURE AND DEFENSE OF GUADALCANAL, THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE SOUTHERN SOLOMON ISLANDS, THE NEW GEORGIA OPERATIONS, AND THE AMPHIBIOUS LANDING AND GROUND SUPPORT OF THE INVASION OF IWO JIMA. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH FOUR BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A MASTER TECHNICAL SERGEANT ON OCTOBER 10, 1945.
