ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 23 FEBRUARY 1943. TRAINED AS AN AMPHIBIAN TRANSPORTATION NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER (NCO). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 23 NOVEMBER 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SAW COMBAT THROUGH ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS WITH HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, 2ND BATTALION, 304TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 76TH INFANTRY DIVISION. AWARDED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 3 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLE DISCHARGE AS A CORPORAL ON 8 DECEMBER 1945.
