ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 26 MAY 1943 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AS A CLERK/TYPIST AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 23 MAY 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 301ST ARMY AIR FORCE BASE UNIT AND CREDITED WITH PARTICIPATION IN THE AIR OFFENSIVE EUROPE AND THE NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE. AWARDED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 SILVER AND 1 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLE DISCHARGE AS A CORPORAL ON 24 OCTOBER 1945 AT DREW FIELD, FLORIDA.
