Serviceman during World War II, in Europe. Was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Expert Combat Infantryman Badge for heroic and meritorious achievements in the Allied Invasion at Normandy on D-Day and in Combat Operations in Northern France at the point of the 'First Army', and a Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters for combat wounds. He was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and the French Fourragere and other decorations for his Military Service.
