TRAINED AND ASSIGNED TO THE 291ST INFANTRY REGIMENT, 75TH INFANTRY DIVISION WHICH ENTERED COMBAT IN THE LIEGE REGION OF BELGIUM ON CHRISTMAS DAY 1944 DURING THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. PRIVATE 1ST CLASS BROWN WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON FEBRUARY 4, 1945 IN VICINITY OF BISCHWIHR, FRANCE IN THE MIDST OF THE ARDENNES CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL; ALL RECEIVED POSTHUMOUSLY. BURIED IN ORCHID HILL CEMETERY WITH MILITARY HONORS AT LOUISVILLE, ILLINOIS. HONORED ALSO AT THE WWII MEMORIAL IN FLORA, ILLINOIS.
