B-24 LIBERATOR CREW MEMBER (SERGEANT) WITH THE 706TH BOMB SQUADRON, 446TH BOMB GROUP (HEAVY), 20TH COMBAT WING, 2ND AIR DIVISION, 8TH AIR FORCE STATIONED AT FLIXTON, ENGLAND. KILLED IN AN AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT WHILE RETURNING FROM A COMBAT MISSION TO HOME BASE ON APRIL 11, 1945. EARNED THE AIR MEDAL WITH TWO OAK LEAF CLUSTERS AND THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL. ALSO ELIGIBLE POSTHUMOUSLY FOR THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH AT LEAST ONE BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. BURIED WITH MILITARY HONORS AT CAMBRIDGE AMERICAN CEMETERY, CAMBRIDGE ENGLAND. HONORED ALSO AT THE WWII MEMORIAL IN FLORA, ILLINOIS.
