Activity During WWII

Enlisted as Aviation Cadet. Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant on 4/15/44. B-17 transition, assigned to the 15th Air Force, Italy; 463rd Bomb Group, 775th Bomb Squad. 1 1/2 missions, bailed out after losing all 4 engines over 4 hour period. Target: Vienna. Captured in Yugoslavia, returned to Germany on January 15, 1945; Stalag X111D/V11A. Liberated on 4/29/45 by Patton. Returned to the U.S., continued active duty. Lead crew L-35 SAC 3 years, Korea. Flew 32 different aircraft, more than 7,000 hours. Retired Major.
