GRADUATE OF VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE IN CLASS OF 1940. COMMISSIONED IN THE U.S. ARMY AS A 2ND LIEUTENANT. HE SERVED IN 48TH MATERIEL SQUADRON, 5TH AIR BASE GROUP. HE WAS CAPTURED BY THE JAPANESE AND AS A PRISONER OF WAR, WAS KILLED IN ACTION WHILE BEING MOVED FROM THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS ON FEBRUARY 15, 1944. HE IS MEMORIALIZED AT THE MANILA AMERICAN CEMETERY AT FORT BONIFACIO, MANILA, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. HE WAS AWARDED A PURPLE HEART.
