ENTERED ACTIVE DUTY ON FEBRUARY 4, 1943 AND TRAINED AS A COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JULY 7, 1943 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. PARTICIPATED IN THE AIR OFFENSIVE EUROPE, AND THE NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED A MERITORIOUS UNIT BADGE, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH SIX BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY RELEASED FROM ACTIVE SERVICE, 3705TH ARMY AIR FORCE BASE UNIT, LOWERY FIELD, COLORADO, AS A CAPTAIN ON AUGUST 23, 1946 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
