PRIVATE 1ST CLASS WITH THE 52ND INFANTRY BATTALION, 9TH ARMORED DIVISION. ARRIVED CONTINENTAL EUROPE ON SEPTEMBER 25, 1945 AND FOUGHT IN THE RHINELAND, ARDENNES, AND CENTRAL EUROPEAN CAMPAIGNS. KILLED IN ACTION ON APRIL 1, 1945 IN VICINITY OF VOLKMARSEN, KURHESSEN, GERMANY. EARNED THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL AND WAS ELIGIBLE FOR THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH THREE BRONZE BATTLE STARS, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. BURIED WITH MILITARY HONORS AT NETHERLANDS AMERICAN CEMETERY, MARGRATEN, NETHERLANDS. HONORED ALSO AT THE WWII MEMORIAL IN FLORA, ILLINOIS.
