ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON MAY 6, 1943 AT GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AND SERVED AS A MACHINIST'S MATE (REFRIGERATION) SECOND CLASS IN THE AMPHIBIOUS FORCE. FIRST ASSIGNMENT WAS ABOARD THE ATTACK TRANSPORT USS WAYNE APA-54, ON WHICH HE SAW COMBAT IN THE MARSHALL ISLANDS, THE SOUTH PACIFIC ISLAND HOPPING CAMPAIGNS AND THE INVASIONS OF LEYTE, LUZON AND OKINAWA. LATER SERVED ABOARD THE USS LITTLE ROCK CL-92. ELIGIBLE FOR THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH SEVERAL BRONZE BATTLE STARS, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED ON JULY 16, 1947 AT GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
