TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE IN THE 18TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 1ST INFANTRY DIVISION. FOUGHT IN THE NORMANDY (INCLUDING D-DAY), NORTHERN FRANCE AND RHINELAND CAMPAIGNS. KILLED IN ACTION ON OCTOBER 23, 1944. EARNED THE BRONZE STAR AND PURPLE HEART MEDALS, AND WAS OTHERWISE ENTITLED TO THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH AT LEAST THREE BRONZE BATTLE STARS, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. BURIED WITH HONORS AT HENRI-CHAPELLE AMERICAN CEMETERY, HENRI-CHAPELLE, BELGIUM. HONORED ALSO AT THE WWII MEMORIAL IN FLORA, ILLINOIS.
