ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE IN NOVEMBER 1945. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND ASSIGNED TO THE 176TH ARMORED FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION (4 1/2 INCH GUN) ON LUZON, THE PHILIPPINES. AFTER 10 MONTHS OF SERVICE, VOLUNTEERED FOR A SPECIAL 18 MONTH ENLISTMENT. RETURNED TO THE U.S. AND COMPLETED HIS TOUR OF DUTY AT FORT KNOX, KENTUCKY. AWARDED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE 1ST CLASS IN 1947 WITH 2 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS OF TOTAL SERVICE.
