ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON APRIL 8, 1943 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AS AN ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT REPAIRMAN (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 338) AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON OCTOBER 1, 1944 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 2ND AIRCRAFT REPAIR UNIT (FLOATING), 20TH AIR FORCE IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC AND IN GROUND COMBAT. EARNED THE MERITORIOUS UNIT AWARD, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A STAFF SERGEANT ON NOVEMBER 25, 1945 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
