Activity During WWII

James W. Patterson was assigned to the 1000th Signal Company, 96th Air Service Group, 12th/15th Air Force after completion of Radio Technician training and certification at Lincoln Ridge, KY and the Lexington (KY) Signal Depot. He served as a Tuskegee Airman with the 332nd Fighter Group as a teletype operator at Montecorvino and Ramitelli Airfields, 1944-1945 and was promoted to Sergeant 29 April 1945. He was later transferred to the 523rd Air Service Group, 1949th Engineering Squadron (Air) and the 1935th/1937th Ordnance Ammunition Co. serving at Cerignola and Jesi, Italy Airbases. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps in December 1945 at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Campaigns: Rome-Arno, North Apennines. Awards/Medals: American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, Rome-Arno Campaign Ribbon, 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button.
