ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 8 APRIL 1943 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AS A LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (MOS 345) AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 8 JANUARY 1944 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. FOUGHT THROUGH THE WESTERN PACIFIC CAMPAIGN IN THE MARIANA ISLANDS AND THE PALAU ISLANDS WITH BATTERY B, 230TH ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY (SEARCH LIGHT) BATTALION. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON 9 JANUARY 1946 AT JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
