VOLUNTEERED FOR AND ON JULY 15, 1943 WAS ASSIGNED TO COMPANY A, 85TH MOUNTAIN INFANTRY REGIMENT OF THE 10TH LIGHT DIVISION (RENAMED 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION) NOVEMBER 6,1944 AT CAMP HALE, COLORADO. PROGRESSION OF CONTINENTAL MOVEMENT: CAMP SWIFT, TEXAS; CAMP PATRICK HENRY, VIRGINIA AND EMBARKED FROM HAMPTON ROADS ON JANUARY 4, 1945 BOUND FOR NAPLES, ITALY. ARRIVED JANUARY 13, 1945 IN NAPLES; FROM THERE WENT TO LIVORNO (LEGHORN), PISA, BAGNI DI LUCCA, VAIE DE SOPRA, MOUNT BELVEDERE, MOUNT DELLA SPE, HILLS 909 AND 913, ROUTE 64, ACROSS PO VALLEY, CROSS THE PO RIVER, VILLA FRANCO, GARDA, CASTENEDOLO, UDINE, TRIESTE, VENICE, FLORENCE. SAILED FROM NAPLES ON JULY 30, 1945 AND ARRIVED NEW YORK ON AUGUST 11, 1945. ON SEPTEMBER 15, 1945 REPORTED BACK TO CAMP CARSON, COLORADO. THE 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION WAS INACTIVATED ON NOVEMBER 30, 1945. SENT TO FORT BRAGG AND DISCHARGED FEBRUARY 7, 1946. BATTLES AND CAMPAIGNS: RIVA RIDGE AND PO VALLEY.
