ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS AN ABLE SEAMAN DRAFTEE ON APRIL 18, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. ASSIGNED TO 143RD NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALION (ADVANCED BASE CONSTRUCTION DEPOT). SERVED ABROAD IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. EARNED THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON AUGUST 29, 1947 AT GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
