ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON DECEMBER 8, 1942 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AS A SURGICAL TECHNICIAN (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 861) AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON FEBRUARY 2, 1944 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED THROUGH THE NEW GUINEA, BISMARCK ARCHIPELAGO AND SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH THREE BRONZE BATTLE STARS, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE 162ND STATION HOSPITAL AND THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT AS A TECHNICIAN 4TH GRADE ON JANUARY 26, 1946 AT JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
