ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON FEBRUARY 7, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. RECEIVED BASIC TRAINING AT CAMP WOLTERS, TEXAS AND SPECIALIZED AS CLERK TYPIST 405. DEPARTED THE U.S. ON AUGUST 6, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS AND THE INTENDED INVASION OF JAPAN. DIVERTED TO OKINAWA WHERE HE SERVED WITH THE 104TH AND 50TH COMBAT ENGINEER BATTALIONS. LATER POSTED TO KOREA WITH THE 34TH COMBAT ENGINEER (C) BATTALION, 7TH INFANTRY CALIFORNIA DIVISION, AS PART OF THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION (JAPAN) MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 4TH GRADE FROM THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS ON DECEMBER 9, 1946 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
