Activity During WWII

Served aboard the USS Dorchester, when it was sunk by a German torpedo. 672 lives were lost (four Chaplains). Picked up by the Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba. Taken to Greenland, where served 14 months. When leaving the sinking Dorchester, left leg was injured. Served a total of 38 months.
