Activity During WWII

Enlisted in Army in January 1944 at Fort Lewis, Washington; Boot Camp Infantry, Camp Roberts, California. Private to Officer Candidate School (OCS) Fort Benning, Georgia. Infantry School, May to September 1944. Camp Walters, Texas to train troops, December 1944. Shipped to England and Le Havre, France; assigned to Liege, Belgium in Replacement Unit of Keystone Division, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry Division, which had nearly been decimated in the Battle of the Bulge; Company I, 110th Battalion Platoon Leader. In France and the Rhineland, settled in Koblenz-Moselle River Area of Germany. Received 2 battle stars. Sent to Kaiserslautern after May 1945. Returned Russian defectors to Germany during war; back to Russia. In Paris, Normandy and Brittany. Home to U.S. July 1945 to West Coast, Camp Swift, Texas 1945 to 1946. Discharged Fort Lewis, Washington in June 1946.
