ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 30 SEPTEMBER 1943. TRAINED AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 31 JULY 1944 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED AS A BLACKSMITH (024) WITH HEADQUARTERS, 67TH ORDNANCE COMPANY (AMMUNITION) THROUGH THE LEYTE AND RYUKYUS CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, THE PHILIPPINES LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON 17 DECEMBER 1945 AT VAUGHAN GENERAL HOSPITAL IN HINES, ILLINOIS.
