ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 23, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AS A COOK (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 060). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1945 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 790TH RAILWAY OPERATING BATTALION DURING THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ARMY OF OCCUPATION (JAPAN) MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLE DISCHARGE AS A TECHNICIAN 4TH GRADE ON DECEMBER 12, 1946 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
