SERVED WITH THE 11TH AIRBORNE DIVISION, 187TH INFANTRY REGIMENT FROM MAY 1944 TO DECEMBER 1945. SERVED IN NEW GUINEA, SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES AND LUZON AS A RIFLEMAN/PARACHUTIST. MADE LANDINGS BY PARACHUTE NEAR ENEMY LINES. USED HAND WEAPONS SUCH AS AUTOMATIC RIFLE, HAND GRENADES, ROCKET LAUNCHER, AND TRENCH KNIFE IN DESTROYING ENEMY PERSONNEL AND CAPTURING ENEMY POSITIONS. AWARDED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL, DISTINGUISHED UNIT BADGE, PHILIPPINE LIBERATION RIBBON WITH TWO BRONZE STARS, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL.
