ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON DECEMBER 8, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. TRAINED AS A MACHINE GUN CREW MEMBER AND SERVED WITH THE MARINE DETACHMENT ABOARD THE FAST CARRIER USS WASP CV-18 ON HER RETURN FROM PUGET SOUND NAVY YARD, AFTER REPAIRS FOR BATTLE DAMAGE, TO HAWAII ON JULY 10, 1945 EN-ROUTE TO THE WESTERN PACIFIC. CONTINUED TO SERVE IN THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS FROM JULY 11, 1945 TO JULY 12, 1946. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON JULY 27, 1946 AT THE MARINE SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
