FOUGHT IN FRANCE WHERE HE WAS KILLED ON AUGUST 15, 1944, JUST 3 MONTHS SHORT OF HIS 24TH BIRTHDAY. HE SERVED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS IN THE U.S. ARMY 47TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 9TH INFANTRY DIVISION, 3RD BATTALION, COMPANY L. HE ENLISTED AT HUNTINGTON, WEST VIRGINIA ON NOVEMBER 12, 1942 AND ENTERED THE SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 26, 1942. HE LEFT THE CONTINENTAL U.S. IN JUNE OF 1944. HIS ASSIGNMENTS AND GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONS WERE FORT THOMAS, KENTUCKY AND FRANCE. HIS DECORATIONS AND AWARDS WERE THE PURPLE HEART, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, WWII SERVICE LAPEL BUTTON, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE SERVICE STAR AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL.
