Killed by Anti-Aircraft Fire, August 9, 1945. Awarded Air Medal with 25 Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Silver Star, Purple Heart posthumously, British Distinguished Flying Cross, Belgium Croix De Guerre. Destroyed 20 enemy air crafts, was landing in European Theater of Operations when killed by anti-aircraft fire over Reims, France.
