ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON NOVEMBER 15, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. ATTENDED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED FOR THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (314) OF AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JUNE 21, 1945 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO COMPANY H, 32ND INFANTRY REGIMENT, 7TH INFANTRY ‘CALIFORNIA’ DIVISION AND SERVED WITH THEM THROUGH THE END OF THE WAR AND INTO THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, ARMY OF OCCUPATION (JAPAN) MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON OCTOBER 19, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
