ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON JULY 1, 1942 AT FORT LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED FOR THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY CLERK-TYPIST (405). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MAY 15, 1943 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO THE 800TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION AND FOUGHT WITH THEM THROUGH THE NEW GUINEA CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH ONE BRONZE BATTLE STAR, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A STAFF SERGEANT ON DECEMBER 21, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
