DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JANUARY 6, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND FOUGHT WITH HEADQUARTERS AND SERVICE BATTERY, 604TH FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION, 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION, 5TH ARMY, THROUGH THE NORTHERN APENNINES AND PO VALLEY CAMPAIGNS IN ITALY. EARNED THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL WITH ONE OAK LEAF CLUSTER, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL, GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON DECEMBER 23, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
