ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 13 MAY 1941 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF WATER SUPPLY ENGINEER (727). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 30 MARCH 1943 BOUND FOR THE COUNTRY OF IRAN. SERVED WITH THE 9TH MAJOR PORT HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS COMPANY IN PERSIA. RETURNED TO THE STATES ON 7 JULY 1945. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE AMERICAN DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE TRANSPORTATION CORPS AS A STAFF SERGEANT ON 15 OCTOBER 1945 AT THE ARMY SERVICE FORCES SEPARATION POINT, CAMP PLAUCHE, LOUISIANA.
