ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON JUNE 1, 1946 AT EAST SAINT LOUIS, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON SEPTEMBER 9, 1946 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ATTENDED RADAR MECHANIC SCHOOL AT CLARK FIELD, LUZON, PHILIPPINES AND QUALIFIED FOR THAT MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (067). EARNED THE AIRCREW MEMBER BADGE (WINGS), THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE 77TH BOMB SQUADRON, 28TH BOMB GROUP AS A CORPORAL ON APRIL 11, 1949 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, RAPID CITY AIR FORCE BASE, WEAVER, SOUTH DAKOTA.
