ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON FEBRUARY 9, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND ATTENDED THE 16 WEEK RADIO OPERATORS SCHOOL, QUALIFYING IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (777). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON MAY 21, 1944 BOUND FOR ASSIGNMENT TO HEADQUARTERS DETACHMENT EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS U.S. ARMY (ETOUSA). PARTICIPATED IN THE NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 4 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE SIGNAL CORPS AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON DECEMBER 31, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
